Tajikistan is one of the most scenic countries of Central Asia. The breathtaking landscapes of mystical lakes and the Pamir mountains should be more than enough to send you into dreamland.
Some of my Tajikistan travel photos:
Our visas were issued for business and not tourist visa. We were stuck in Dushambe till 5pm as Noor, our tour operator was fighting hard to get out visas corrected. We decided to relax in the hotel.
First sight of Afghanistan
One of the special moments of this trip was the first sight of Afghanistan. A small stream of river separating Tajikistan and Afghanistan for around 1000kms. Stopped the vehicle and ran towards the stream. Just 10m away from Afghanistan and I just kept on staring. It was very hard to control my urge of swimming to the other side. A magical moment. 🙂
Small mud houses on the Afghanistan side
Yes, that is Afghanistan. Sooo close !!!
A truck broke down in this narrow road, which blocked other vehicles for couple of hours. Such delays due to breakdowns are common in this route.

On the way to Khorog
Ishkashim border market with Afghanistan: You can see the Afghanistan flag in this picture. This is also the point where many people begin their Wakhan corridor expedition by crossing over to Afghanistan. I was very much tempted to go onto the other side but had to forego due to prior commitments. I have heard that the landscape of the Wakhan corridor is strikingly beautiful. Someday in future maybe.
We visited this border market with Afghanistan at Ishkashim
