Sermilik fjord is a must visit place in East Greenland. It is a one hour boat journey from Tasiilaq and the ocean is studded with so many icebergs along the way that finally you get tired of them. 🙂
There are two major operators in Tasiilaq who arrange a boat trip to Sermililk and Tiniteqilaaq.
Red House – Excerpts from their emails regarding the trip –
“The boat trips we offer to Tiniteqilaq or any other tour are daytours and we charge 1.050.-DKK p.P. The boat must be filled with at least 6 persons. But usually we put on the wall in our house the planned trip and some guests agree everytime. Should’nt be a problem.”
Travellodge – Excerpts from their emails regarding the trip –
“The trip to Tinit starts at 9 am and go up to Tinit. Here you have 1 to 1,5 hour to walk around, after we sail into the icefjord and will go to land and have lunch. It is white bread , dark bread, all kind of cheese and other things for bread, the coffee chocolate and soda, there is a English speaking guide.
After 1 hour, we go down through the icefjord, passing icebergs. On the last part to Tasiilaq, we shall look for whales now and then they are inn the area. Back to Tasiilaq habour at 5 pm. Price – 1200 dkr pr person”
I chose Lars after some recommendations and his tour seemed more interesting. But then the scheduled boat trip got cancelled as there was no one else in the trip. I was very disappointed with the cancellation as this was something I was really looking forward to. Fortunately, he had to go to Semilik Fjord the next day to bring back some trekkers. So he asked me join as a guest (paid 500 dkk). Though this was not exactly as per the planned trip but I was still happy that I was atleast going to see Sermilik Fjord.
