Lan Ha Bay is one of the less travelled areas of Ha Long Bay regions and is also comparatively cleaner. Ha Long Bay on the other hand gets huge number of tourists and therefore also has loads of tour companies operating in this area.
My aim was to experience the similar landscapes of Ha Long Bay but with much less crowd. Fortunately, I found Asia Outdoors, which operate on the southern portion of Ha Long Bay known as Lan Ha Bay. I booked 2 days 1 night package, which includes rock climbing and kayaking. You also get to spend the night on the boat, which was pretty nice as we also got to see the Supermoon.
To reach Ha Long Bay, you need to travel to Cat Ba Island, where all the tour companies are located.
Beautiful sunset at Hai Phong port. We took a bus from Hanoi to Cat Ba Island. Most of the bus companies have ferry price included in their tickets. We took the Good Morning Cat Ba (GMCB) bus from Hanoi. They even helped us with an affordable accommodation in Cat Ba Island.
On the way to rock climbing
First attempt at rock climbing. Its an awesome feeling to reach the top.
Had the Supermoon for company during the night and then waking up to a view of limestone karsts and pillars in the middle of Lan Ha bay.
Kayaking through the beautiful limestone karsts of Lan H Bay. The second day of the tour has lots of kayaking. We had two sessions of kayaking – before and after lunch.
During kayaking, we also stopped on couple of beaches. This was one of the many secluded beaches along the island of Lan Ha Bay
The scenery just keeps getting better
Woke up to this amazing sunrise view of the limestone karsts
There were lot of shops in the middle of the sea selling drinks and food
