The flight from Reykjavik to Kulusuk is known to be one of the most picturesque flights in the world. And you do not want to miss this because of a wrong seat selection. So how do we select the perfect seat? Let’s plan step by step to select the best seats on Air Iceland for Reykjavik to Kulusuk.
- Understand the Aircraft and the Seat plan
The aircraft that Air Iceland uses for the journey between Reykjavik to Kulusuk is a Fokker 50. And this is how the seating arrangement looks like in a Fokker 50 aircraft.

- Left or Right?
Which side will have the best views from Reykjavik to Kulusuk? To understand this, let’s watch two videos from Youtube, with views of each side:
Left side view:
Right side view:
From these videos, it is quite clear that right side has the best views
- Front or Back?
Now that the side is clear, we will have to select the row which has the least obstruction from the wings and tyres. Let’s take a look at the seating plan shown in the Air Iceland website while booking:
From the Seat Assignment, it looks like 3D and 4D will have the least sight obstruction from wings. While booking, both of them were already booked and that’s why they are showing red. The video that I shared earlier is taken from seat 3D (you can see that in the last 5 seconds). And we can also see from the video that it still had some obstruction from the rotor fans.
So how about from the back-end row. This video taken probably from 11D or 12D:
So, with these calculations, I have put my money on 12D. Let’s hope, I won’t be disappointed. 🙂
